The mythology of the vampire has existed at least as early as ancient Mesopotamia and is abundant throughout folklore around the world even to this day as an entire genre of fantasy literature has sprung up to romanticize the many possible realities of undead life. Vampires represent virtues we admire and desire such as charisma, immortality, intelligence, power, and unabashed sexuality. They are also psychologically tortured and frequently lonely and misunderstood, something most of us can relate to.
